SJTU is the first one in China to set up such a program, combined with the engineering disciplines of engineering and management science. It aims to cultivate composite high-level management talents with solid engineering and technical knowledge and modern management methods.Main courses: Design and manufacturing, management science, engineering, statistics, operations research, production planning and control, quality and reliability engineering, logistics and supply chain.

Master Degree Programs

  • Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering was founded in1952 and is one of the first disciplines to have the right to confer master's degree. It covers four sub-disciplines, including mechatronics, mechanical design and theory, mechanical and electrical engineering and vehicle engineering,

During the 2.5 year Master degree program, students must carry out a research thesis in relation with one of the main research directions as follows:

  • Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation

Power Engineering and Engineering Thermo physics has six master sub-disciplines, including Power Machinery and Engineering, Refrigeration and Cryogenic Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Engineering Thermo physics, Fluid Machinery and Engineering, HeatingVentilationand Air Conditioning Engineering for Gas.

During the 2.5 year Master degree program, students must carry out a research thesis in relation with one of the main research directions as follows:

  • Refrigeration and Cryogenic Engineering

  • Thermal energy engineering

Relying on mechanical engineering discipline, the department has the right to confer doctoral degree in Industrial Engineering and master degree in three engineering areas (industrial engineering, logistics engineering, project management).

During the 2.5 year Master degree program, students must carry out a research thesis in relation with one of the main research directions as follows:

(1) Advanced Manufacturing systems; (2) Quality and Reliability Engineering; (3) modern service engineering and operations management; (4) Modern Logistics Engineering; (5) basic theories and methods of industrial engineering.
